anemometer not working for wind speed davis vantage pro 2

Hello
My anemometer no longer records wind speed Davis vantage pro 2 Any ideas ? I cant see where cable can be disconnected at anemometer end to reset connect try different cable.

Is it still recording direction correctly? If it does, but registers 0 wind speed even though the cups spin, it may be the internal magnetic reed switch is stuck. Usually you can solve this by waving a magnet around the area where the wind cups are attached

Fingers crossed, but I found once my old one started doing this, the problem repeatedly occurs (usually within a few months). Since I got the newer version of the anemometer a few years ago haven't had the problem again.

I've replaced the reed switch twice in mine, not the easiest job, and the bearings once..
Should really get one of the new type!

unfortunately the magnet did not work. Tossing up getting a new one at $300 not cheap !

Ouch sorry to hear it didn't work

It worked for mine a number of times but I ended up buying the new one anyway because I got sick of it... think the final straw was when it happened during really windy weather when I wasn't home to attempt a fix.

Unfortunately it appears a fair bit more expensive now than when I got mine, probably because the weaker NZD relative to USD
