Re: General July Weather
Metservice site is showing only one rain day in Timaru in the last 32 days, and that was only 0.6mm! Pretty dry for Winter!?

Re: General July Weather
Dry yes, but longterm records from Timaru Gardens and close-by successor sites show that the months May to September are somewhat drier than the rest overall, with December being the wettest. June 1897 had only 0.5mm, while the lowest December rainfall was 7.4mm.

Using my cell phone at the moment. A bit different and difficult as compared to my laptop.

Re: General July Weather
High pressure south of NZ in a weeks time could deliver cold air to NZ, perhaps something to watch, see how the models look next few days.

Re: General July Weather
Metservice missing the ball on Invercargill, has 'cloudy with a period of rain this evening'. Looks like a period of rain is about to hit before 2pm

Re: General July Weather
We could do with a decent winter blast, just in time for the end of the school holidays.
It's just been too mild this winter, particularly the last week. Last Sunday at home in Rakaia, we had a lovely temperature of 20 degrees in our backyard and were sitting out there with the sun umbrella up.

On the airport data Whangarei and Gisborne got the high of 19C today. The mild weather stretched as far south as Otago.

Re: General July Weather
Observing to the south, an interesting line of level flat-topped clouds that appears to be expanding

Been a great day working on my 1954 Ford Customline. Been watching the clouds build to the south this afternoon. Looking south from hornby.

Re: General July Weather
Just had a burst of extremely heavy rain come through about a quarter hour ago. The nearby Pillans Point PWS had it peak at 50 mm/hr. I was getting concerned we'd flood again.
