Not seeing any up there here (Halswell). On the school run we observed slightest of dusting visible round shady bits up high down to about 350m. Well done Metservice

Seems to be some fairly beefy showers forming around the Canterbury coastal fringe area at present

Looks like a beefy shower with red on radar approaching Hamilton from the NW. Yet the surface wind is a SE, the direct opposite.

Comment made by a number of Southlanders yesterday that despite it being fine and clear it was cold .Temps hovered around 9-10C most of the day once the sun dealt to the frost

YTD rain is now less than 100mm behind average for my station. 2013-2016 all had lower annual totals at this point in the year.

GFS modelling seems to be modelling increasingly stable uneventful weather for the coming ten days over NZ with a few garden variety spring blips on the radar.

Looking like very little rain here next 10 days. A welcome change but hoping the spring dry hasn't set in already

I agree, just a low risk. If any lightning occurs it will be isolated.

Furious drizzle in Chch, this truly is our version of the 'Beast from the East'!...but that's just like any old easterly and yes I know the SSW hasn't downwelled yet 😉.

No drizzle here but instead rain droplets large enough to make bubbles on the puddles, 14mm so far.

Just landed back in nelson about 30 minutes ago from christchurch just in time, thunderstorm here with torrential rain and small hail :D .
I can see on the radar its feeding in from the north colliding with a developing SE.
