Re: Freak Hailstorm, Mexico
Does anyone have details of the meteorological setup of the storm, other than that it resulted in a lot of hail? Would be interesting to find out.

Re: Freak Hailstorm, Mexico
Probably a poor drainage system allowing water and hail to flood into low lying areas helping create the deep hail drifts but no doubt there was a very decent hail storm.

Re: Freak Hailstorm, Mexico
Interesting
This was on the news tonight on the telly.
The hail looked like that slushy stuff you get rather than the accumulation of hail that builds in to clusters before falling out of the cloud. Would it be intense graupal?
...but why was it so intense and dumped itself like a freak snowfall?
Interesting to see what the climate of that city is like?

Persistent surface convergence would have been generating new cells over the same area for an extended period. Hail size looks small.

Re: Freak Hailstorm, Mexico
I came across a story on this hail storm and a Mexican expert said the hail was piled up due to a flash flood. That would help explain the depth I guess.
