Just the one-clap-wonder here so far. Just starting to rain here now.

Might have to change the title looking at the Lightning-Tracker?

Risk for tonight has been downgraded somewhat...
MetService - Severe Thunderstorm Outlook

Valid to: 12:00am Saturday 19 March 2011
Issued at: 5:59pm Friday 18 March 2011

Updated at 5:55pm Friday for expected thunderstorm activity this evening.

Thunderstorms embedded within areas of rain have been affecting parts of Northland, Auckland, eastern Waikato and inland Bay of Plenty this afternoon. The thunderstorms activity is expected to generally die away during the evening, but there is still a low to moderate risk of thunderstorms about these areas as indicated on the chart.

In the far north, a few severe thunderstorms are still possible north of Kaitaia until tonight, with rainfall rates in excess of 25mm/hr. Rainfall rates of this intensity can cause surface flooding, especially about low-lying areas such as streams and valleys.

No thunderstorms are expected over the South Island this evening.

The Rain I am getting right now seems more like a nimbostratus type rather than cumuli type falls.
