Re: General April Weather
surprised to see the TV weather forecast this morning showing sunny weather for the NI for tjhe next 2 days
there is alot of anticylonic gloom cloud in the tasman under the high to move in on the SWer that will come back ahead of the next cold front
typical BeeBop weather that Michael likes to call it

Looks like a prolonged spell of cloudy Easterly weather for NZ next week, some rain in the NE of the NorthIsland, drizzle down to North Otago.

A rather non-commentable weather day down here. So very non-interesting.
As interesting as watching a horse standing still in a paddock

Yup, fog has thickened considerably. I think it will take a bit to clear.

Re: General April Weather
Afternoon sunshine here in Christchurch. Although still plenty of cloudy periods and a fresh NE. I would describe it has a cool day. Although the winter chill isn't in the air like the past few days. Feels more autumish again. Looking ahead looks to be rather unsettled over much of the country end of this week and for much of next week thanks to those two systems joining and blocking highs acting as a squash zone. Seems could even be some prolonged light rain here in Christchurch for a few days from last two model runs. Will keep an eye on thinks as looks to be a chance of a low deepening of the coast of Canterbury late next week also, but a long way out so will keep a watch of proceedings. Looking forward to some eventful systems as it has been a non event down this way since last September.

Man that trough by Tauranga to the NE is completely stationary.
Radar shows its very well defined and just sitting there.

Re: General April Weather
Man I've just had the slowest drive home. This cloud/fog or whatever it is is right down to ground level and drizzling. With the uber heavy holiday traffic and heaps of cops on the road I think our average speed was about 60 km/hr. Oddly at the Shaw Rd radio site between Te Puke & Rotorua @ 369m it was effectively above the worst of it with no drizzle and lots more light.
I wasn't expecting this err rain this afternoon, caught me quite off guard.

Re: General April Weather
The models dont show the low deepening of the Canterbury Coast anymore mid next week due to a strengthening high south of New Zealand keeping that low (rain band) further north and more eastward now as oppose to this mornings run. Hopefully this changed because I cant be bothered with another high driving in the awful NE here. Hopefully it changes back tonight.

Re: General April Weather
Sure looking dreary for the rest of month in the upper NI. An abundance of grey skies and rainy periods, and even blustery E to SE winds...

Re: General April Weather
Atleast in Auckland we have some sheltering from the east/ SE , the most dreary weather will be along exposed east coasts especially where you catch the cool/cold air coming around the High.David wrote:Sure looking dreary for the rest of month in the upper NI. Non-event all-right. All the action has been below ground level than above it.CHCH Weather Chaser wrote: Looking forward to some eventful systems as it has been a non event down this way since last September.
I'd rather have above ground level action anyday.
