Yes - awesome day, big thank you to Brian and his family for hosting us. It was great to put some faces to names.
To cap it off I arrived home to a small thunderstorm, now I'm sitting here and it's pouring down. - ain't life good?
Cheers,
G

Once again, thank you Brian and family for hosting us today.
Awhitu is a niice spot. I took quite a few pics but due to what appears to be a fault on the memory card, only a few can be downloaded onto my computer.
Picture of fair weather cumulus over the Manukau Harbour, looking towards AK city about 1pm.

Looks like it was a good day! Well done Brian
Good photo Steve. Yes, I sometimes wounder if something will go wrong with my digital camera at times but I think aslong as I look after it, it should be fine. Still, my SLR is with me at all times during a chase.
I might need to get a bigger memory card at some point, it'll be the biggest one I get if I do. I can only take about 30 odd shots with my present memory card if I set the camera to RAW or TIF (300dpi). Well actually maybe not, a higher write speed card would be good though. In other words the time it takes for the image to load to the memory card, not that good on TIF mode (highest quality). I should've taken a pic of that FC in TIF mode but I didn't, too caught up in the moment. Really it's nothing to cause too much worry, I took them on the setting just down. They look fine to me so that's good.

HI
yes, it was great day, and great to meet all you guys, and thanks for coming
not sure what happened to nz macka from south head?
here is a photo of the CB that built off the waitkeres around 6pm, not long after a lightning strike was detected
it gave 6mm to the farm site in a short sharp shower!
and a rainbow earlier on

Gidday Guys,
Firstly my apologies for my non attendance, unfortunately the illegal killing of some of our stock in a roadside paddock sometime early Sunday morning required me to be on farm today to clean up and also to talk to police and identify some possible offenders. (looks like we got the bastards )
It looks like a superb day was had by all, I am sorry I missed it as I was looking forward to meeting every one and learning from all of you. Hopefully if another meeting is organised I can attend. Unfortunately, farming is an unpredictable 7 day business....altho today was the exception to the general rule.
Weather here today was absolutely superb, high temp of 21.8C, gentle variable breezes, with no rain till around 6pm. Since then we have had a couple of heavy showers, but so far no thunder .... Will be keeping an eye on the met radar and Ricky's lightning detector....

it was a great day
just when everyone left, things started cooking, LOL, re the CB build ups.typical
that low off taranaki has not carried on SE and instead is doing a bit of a loop the loop
windy again out this way from the NW, gusting to 33 knots at the farm, and 43 kts or so at the signal station
