Steady showers have returned here in the last half hour as they are on the way out to sea. Shouldnt last too much longer.

Certianly chilly in Chch this morning - only 5.5C at Jeff's station, plus windchill from the gusty southerly. Should be white on Mt Herbert and other high hills on BP.

1 degree here currently. Metservice arent forecasting showers for CHCH overnight or in the morning but I think from the models we might get some scrappy light coastal showers come in overnight and may save us from a heavy frost.

Got down to 3.1C here, pretty low considering the breeze never died out. Wind has picked up again this morning gusting 20 km/h, little bit of a wind chill out there...

4.9C here this morn.

Also only got to 11.2C here yesterday. I see Whangaparoa'a high was 11.9C and David's 11.7C, while most more central Akld sites were around 13C. Seems a SSE flow often produces cooler temps for E'ern areas of Akld?

Why did MS raise tonight's forecast low to 6C? I think it could be colder than last night...

Today's expected Akld high was also changed from 15C to 16C?

Wonder what's going on there. Only reached 13 at the airport.

The temperature has me puzzled this evening, it's clear with not much wind, yet the temperature has not dropped at all in the last hour. :-k

Here's NIWA's preliminary, June 2011 Climate Summary.

'The 3rd-warmest June on record, and very gloomy'

Highest temp was 22.4°C at Whitianga (obviously the 26.3C at Kaikohe has been discredited).
Lowest temp was -6.7°C at Ranfurly.

Note that rather than the highest June mean-temps on record, Dunedin's Musselburgh temp of 8.6C should probably be 'highest-equal' with 1956, and Westport Aero's 10.8C, 'highest-equal' with 1971.

A very unusual aspect was that Dunedin was the sunniest of the "6 main" centres. A quick look suggests that the last time this happened was in July 1993, and before that January 1976 and October 1953.
