MetService Lightning Website

Unread post by NZ Thunderstorm Soc »

MetService have now a lightning web at http://www.metservice.com which costs a lot of money. There is a free viewing site on the METSERVICEWEB where you can view lightning strikes over the past 5 days.

Try http://www.metservice.com/lightning/index_sml.htm

click on recent data and it shows the dots on the country where the strikes were.

Ah - thanks for the link, I couldn't see the forest for the trees!

Good idea the map, however it would be more useful if the dots were just limited to the past 0-30 minutes :-(

Maybe one day when I win lotto I can get the full service.

Cheers,

G

This lightning chart tells me nothing. It is obviously not aimed at weather followers. Its value is quite limited.

It should be colour-coded for what day it was ;)

Yes Steven the website is designed around MetServices commercial arm and not for us weather followers/observers unless one is quite rich, but then...

Thanks for those links Graeme,

I am aware of the first....does not always show the lightning from around NZ. But can be useful.
