North Island looks gold today for storms. Nice cold pool of upper air, ground should get heating as there's pretty much no high cloud about from what I can see on the sat pics. Have a good one people!

Not sure for down here, the temp and dewpoint will have to rise...Inland may get something if conditions stay like this?

Quite agree, alot of flattening in the Cu tops at the moment. Dewpoints also on the low side for Auckland. Having said that, I still think a few cb's/thunderstorms will fire this afternoon as the upper air is very cold.
Highest risk area is inland Waikato/Bay of Plenty.

Conditions here are suiting thunderstorm development... Cu tops are increasing. Little breaths of wind, 19c currently, sunny periods... but humidity is rather low. However instability over-rides all of these factors!!

Latest sat pic shows an Ioslated cb off the coast of Hawkes Bay.

Just a couple of weak cb's over east Auckland. Fine here with 20C,dp10C.
Not quite moist/warm enough for good convection.

Did 500+km today 8) Had a few heat showers around the Kaimai area, nothing exciting though. I could see that cb north of Auckland from Matamata, very 'yellow' looking through the haze.

Only pictures today were of mythical Wardville and a few scenic shots.

Cheers,

G
