New Year's Eve Weather

Unread post by spwill »

A bit of a guess here but I will go for some rain possible over central NZ, dry cooler conditions to the south, humid with some heavy showers to the north.

A little too far ahead to make any calls but it seems northern regions will be getting some sort of rain.

That would be good if there was some rain, certainly could do with a bit.

Wanaka and Queenstown will have a dry cool evening, Mt Maunganui and Paihia will have a warm humid evening with the chance of precipitation but it could easily be a dry night , have to wait and see on the day.
I think the most unpleasant weather will be where the cool air meets the rain somewhere over central NZ.

Looks like a dry night for the Auckland New Year celebrations with warm muggy conditions but some shower activity near the west coast along a convergence line out there.

I hear they cancelled the party at Mt Maunganui...but it looks like it might improve there this evening?

Mount Maunganui got canned. They couldn't put up the stages or marques etc yesterday due to the wind & rain. The Council cancelled everything. Fireworks, Bands, Buses you name it, the lot :(

I expect we will have big problems tonight without the organised events.

Weather for us here won't be a problem as most people are either a sleep or drinking it up at the restaurant/hotel!
Happy New Year to everyone here and may 2012 be a good year! :-)
