Interesting things in the sky the last few days, ive seen a few photos floating around on facebook tonight of what looks like an ice crystal arc over the Port Hills this afternoon.
They are quite rare often see them around the sun as in sun dogs but this was nowhere near the sun, i will see if i can pinch a photo for on here.
The one i seen yesterday was just a faint coloured rainbow on the horizon out east within a blue dome backdrop but much wider than a rainbow.

Nice pic. Looks and sounds like Cloud Iridescence or Iridescent Clouds.
Edit: Could also be a Circumhorizon Arc, but the timing sounds wrong?

saw a sliver of it out the window at work in town....it was there all day, moving west with the sun. never seen it before.
