Still 43mm for the event. Not a drop today, even had the sun out for a while. Metservice got yesterday and today wrong for us. Looks like some more bands to come and go over the next few days.

Drove through a very heavy shower going to work just past Swannanoa township this morning with definate fat drops of sleet intermixed, ice was fizzling on the windowscreen.
Although could have been melted ice pellets also, i can see some of the showers on the radar over the last hour are abit beefy over North Canterbury maybe some ice grapel in them showers.

Good heavy burst of rain on the roof then, very shafty coming through in waves typical easterly rain with big drops no ice pellets as yet.
Looks like and area coming down to deliver some decent falls in the coming hours, maybe getting parts of the city north and east especially.

First shower of the day coming through now. Will be short lived. The band further north looks as though it will miss the city and pass inland north of about the Waimak.

Quite a smattering of thundershowers circling around the low today. More rapidly developing convection over Northland atm.

Midday sounding shows the air unstable over Auckland but with just 150j/kgCAPE. We havn't had any decent convergence today to get cb's firing.

Looks like Waikato will get more of this convective type of rain tonight. Fresh Development is occurring just off the Tauranga coast and drifting SW right into the Waikato.
Due to the Low being quite stagnant, It wouldn't surprise me if it continues throughout the night.
Cattle foot rot will be a concern for farmers I imagine if this trend of rain fall continues.

Looks like some active cb's north of Northland this morning. 500mb temps there -25C.

Fine start to the day for Auckland with 11C. Looks like a mainly fine day with max 17C.

There could be thunder potential for Auckland on Sunday.
