Well-worth looking at the larger image: what is the name of the massive mountain at the extreme right-hand side?
Thanks for sharing!

it's Monte Rosa. 4634 m asl. the second highest mountain in europe after Monte Bianco 4810 m asl.Orion wrote:Well-worth looking at the larger image: what is the name of the massive mountain at the extreme right-hand side?

it's located between Italy and Switzerland (the northern part is in S. - the eastern, southern and western parts are in I.)
it's covered by large perennial ice sheets. on the top the temperature is always below zero. only during the most intense heat waves it can reach +1/+2 degrees for short time.
last monday when here in Milan there were +30 degrees, on the top there were -8 and it was snowing with strong winds. at 4550 m asl there's the Regina Margherita Refuge. the highest of europe. and there's a weather station set by the university of Torino (Turin) that is the highest of europe and there's also the highest webcam HD of europe

Ah! I had heard of Monte Rosa but didn't know what it looked like - thanks for identifying it for me, and for the extra photos.
