Amazing how much the shower lines weaken by the time they get from the west coast to here... the latest one just broke apart!

Yes, NZstorm and I watched that storm from Te kauwhata :D. A lot of heavy rain with the local lightning so not easy/good for photography. I will go through my photos and see if anything is worth posting.

Lots of sheet lightning so not that photogenic. Observed heavy rain, missed the hail.

Indeed it was- and just to make you all jealous my wife actually woke me up at 4am to see the storm as she didn't want me to miss it, and she knew how much I (we) love watching them

Storms continued all the way up the West Coast on our little weekend road trip, peaking with heavy snow accross the Lewis pass yesterday evening (arthurs was chains only, which we didn't have). I think I have heard thunder now on 4 of the last 7 days

Perfect weekend given we weren't tramping this time

Yes, there's an immense cloud making its way over from the southwest & the day has dulled considerably; a few spots of rain falling now.
11.8 degrees.
And, my word, it's been windy this afternoon!

Our neighbors lost power all night last night. Ours was back on in just over an hour but up the road they were 8 hours.

Definitely a transformer blowing up during those 2 strikes. They would take quite a while to replace.
