It has begun! Rapt with how well $50 binoculars from DSE and some household items are working

So much cloud here and occasional brief showers, unlike what the forecast said

Re: Total Solar Eclipse: 14 November 2012
Just got back from the beach here in Milingimbi, Arnhem Land NT. Had quite a bit of coastal low cloud interupting the view, but we plunged back into almost total darkness after quite a bit of light. Couple of shots with it at partial just above the horizon. Wasn't possible at totality - annoying Cu in the way.
Amazing!!!! Your turn next!

Can feel it now. Full sun but just doesn't feel hot in it. Feels like a UK summer day.

Cant see the actual eclipse here as I have no special viewing equipment, But the sunshine has gone really dull in the last 10mins or so.

Sunshine/cloud mix here. Went quite dark when the clouds moved across the sun and you could see the eclipse through the filtering of the cloud, feels cooler now as well.

Really weird light at the moment. Went outside to take photos. Had passing cloud and was able to look at it through the clouds. Was about 90% blocked. Probably did damage to my eyes a bit but it looked amazing.

I spent my morning off work, standing in the garden wearing my husbands welding helmet watching the eclipse - quite spectacular, beautiful cloud free sky here in Rolleston, shame we could only see approximately half of it.

Re: Total Solar Eclipse: 14 November 2012
Right when eclipse was near maximum, sun was obscured by cloud, but in a clear patch about 20degrees NNW of the sun spotted this pinprick of light. Was only visable for a few seconds but had camera in hand. Thought I had missed it, but whohoo I got it. Trying to find a star chart to confirm that I saw Venus in daylight.

Global Radiation trend in central Christhchurch: light green is 10 min avg showing effect of eclipse, dark green (instantaneous readings) shows effects of small clouds moving over.

Re: Total Solar Eclipse: 14 November 2012
Interesting to see that the eclipse knocked about 3-4 degrees off the temperature in Waipara this morning (Not a lot of wind about, so a very radiation driven thermal environment there this morning).

Noticed the same here 2 degree drop since the eclipse (14 to 12 degrees) started now back up to 16 degrees
