Re: NZAPStrike Launch
Bad news on the radar overlay..........
I can only get 3 hourly images free of charge and I can't modify them so they cant be used as a overlay.
Any more frequent updating radar images would cost a bomb, sorry guys!
I didnt require anything set up on Metservices end for this overlay to work, I can get and alter images for it to become an overlay.
All I asked was permission to do it.
Ill be talking to Jacqui some more but I somehow think that the radar overlay won't be possible (In NZ anyway).
I'll keep you all updated, IF there is any progress on this matter.
Best Regards
Tim

Re: NZAPStrike Launch
I have contacted Jacqui again today, and I can't do much other than getting 3 hourly images (which come under an open license). Since the lightning data goes to a max 2 hours old, a radar overlay will be useless.
I have tried my very hardest to see if could add NZ radar to NZAPStrike, but metservice wants as much traffic going towards metservice.com.
Unless Metservice change there terms of service or they give me a bird in a hand, i doubt I will be able to do much more on this.
Such a pity, I really wanted to implement a radar overlay.

Gah! They drive me up the wall..... Any chance you can put this NZAP Strike through their webiste and credit it to a shared feature of MS, Blitzortung and Tim Gunn?

I said that they would get a full link back, a watermark would more or less ruin the overlay as it defeats the whole purpose of the image being there.

Re: NZAPStrike Launch
What if the strikes were overlayed over top of their watermark and the watermark was applied over the Tasman Sea West of the Lower North Island or better still East of the bottom of the South Island.Tornado Tim wrote:I said that they would get a full link back, a watermark would more or less ruin the overlay as it defeats the whole purpose of the image being there.
Is their a specific Minister responsible for Metservice? Or is it the SOE Minister, the local to me Tony Ryall (who is quite approachable).

Looks like I may end up having to go to that stage to get any progress on this issue.tgsnoopy wrote: Is their a specific Minister responsible for Metservice? Or is it the SOE Minister, the local to me Tony Ryall (who is quite approachable).
