A weakening subtropical low crosses the North Island 1-3 August.
Gales about exposed parts of Northland could be the worst weather threat but excessive rainfall can't be ruled out for eastern parts of the North Island.
Also isolated thunderstorms likely for the north and east of Northland.

Re: Subtropical Low 1-3August
The forecast dewpoint numbers for the next week are a good indicater of mild weather on the way despite cloud and rain. We will notice the humidity in the north Friday/Saturday.
The rain is welcome here after a very dry July.

MS issued a watch this morn for the possibility of severe easterly gales and heavy falls for eastern Northland, north Auckland, and the Coromandel from late Thursday to Friday night ... could be fun

Looks like there won't be much rain for Auckland Waikato from this system. Perhaps August will be another dry month.

I see Kaikohe got 87mm in 24hrs to midday and Bay of Islands 45mm. So a bit of a soaking up north.
No rain in Auckland but to be fair the gfs wasn't really indicating much for us. Though tomorrow we could catch a bit.

Re: Subtropical Low 1-3 August
Only 2.5mm here early this morn. These cells have been a bit hit and miss. The Coromandel's Pinnacles had about 100mm in the last 24 hrs, compared to only 22m at Castle Rock.
Been fairly blustery here the last couple of days, with gale-force winds out in the Gulf. I see Whangaparoa also had gusts around 90 km/h earlier today.
Update: Actually 98 km/h at Whangaparaoa Peninsular on Friday.

I see Paeroa, which is a little further north, recorded gusts to 85 km/h late yesterday morn.
