Large and interesting clouds to my south, and they seem to be moving north quite rapidly.
Occasional cold breaths coming in the window; 15.8 degrees.

Re: Widespread Storms, South Island 23/2/14
Decided not to chase the northern cell, but keeping a firm eye on the one now curving into the coast near Ashburton looks very severe.
Not too far to chase from here in Lincoln could line up southern christchurch and the peninnsula.

Canterbury, home of good rugby and severe storms

Looking very dark and gloomy in that direction from here, so anything vicious looks likely

Re: Widespread Storms, South Island 23/2/14
Steve has phoned and reported a tornado / funnel cloud near Lake Ellesmere just now. He said he saw dust being kicked up on the ground. Hopefully some footage later anyway.
