I thought I would let you all know that New Zealand Met Legend: John Hickman died on Saturday, 13th of December, 2014.
John was an instrumental person in advancing Meteorology and Science around the globe. He was the first person to buy and operate a computer for the purposes of numerical weather prediction.
He also set up the first High Resolution Satellite Receiver and as a result the public gained access to more accurate forecasts and data as a result.
His funeral is expected to be somewhere on the Kapiti Coast, this Friday.
