Stupid Misty fog

Unread post by Thunder »

The 3rd time in my life I go to catch a flight on a plane (this time to wellington) fog hinders my flight! Well, It'll be tomorrow (thurs) that I go instead, hope the fog doesn't hang around in the morning. Signs tell me it will be there again but how thick I'm not sure.

Cheers

Foggy here too Aaron (Wednesday Night),I spent the last few days on the West Coast,it was good to get away from the cold frosty nights for a few days.
Looks like Australia are still getting all the exciting weather at the moment.
Cheers.

It would be the moist E or NE carrying it into Chch and probably not enough wind to blow it away and an inversion ;) it will probably start to clear as the low in the tasman approches

All the fog seems to have fully cleared up this afternoon to leave fine weather here in Chch, though still a bit chilly (but pretty normal for time of year).

Well it did come back! Once again I'm delayed so I've booked ahead for Thursday next week. It was really foggy this morning but then it actually cleared and I thought "ahh..crap!" , then it fogged over again and still is (not as severe) at 1:00pm.

Cheers

The fog cleared early this morning in central Chch, leaving fine but still hazy weather. But if the fog has returned to New Brighton, then it could just as easily return to the city centre, as I believe we're still in a northeasterly flow and the stuff tends to come in from the sea.

The chilly fog came back to central Chch with a vengeance about 2PM, and is still here.

No fog in Ashburton today, quite a mild day here sitting in the sun.
Latest forecast suggests a southerly change on Friday with some light rain.
Cheers.

A real pea-souper in central Chch now, after a temporary break in late afternoon.

Still dull in Chch, though I believe it should probably be defined as mist or low cloud rather than fog. (definition of fog being visibility less than 1km)

We had an advection fog around the coastal north shore today, this fog affecting the city area for a while too. I notice the airport was unaffected.
It is unusual to get this type of fog in Auckland, especially lasting into the afternoon.

I took this photo from Milford on Aucklands North Shore about 2pm.

Auckland's been getting a taste of the sort of weather we've been having for days. But you certainly would've had a much warmer day - Chch only rose to 6C today.

No fog today, certainly not in central Chch. The yellow ball in the sky shone on the city throughout the day, punctuated by scattered clouds. Not very warm though - only about a 10C max.
