MetSoc 2015 Conference

Unread post by Tornado Tim »

Hi All,

Just posting here to inform you all of the Meteorological Conference 2015.

The location: The Raglan Sunset Motel, Raglan, Waikato, New Zealand

Date: Monday 23 – Wednesday 25 November 2015

I am presenting in it like last year but this year I will be talking about Lightning Detection, Storm Analysis Algorithms and Storm Data Analysis.

Since it is in Raglan (my fault :> ), MetOcean Solutions - The company I work for, will have quite a presence there, along with Metservice and Niwa. So Meteorology, Oceanography, Climate will all be discussed at this years conference.
This is an excellent event to to talk to Meteorologists, Climatologists and Oceanographers and Scientists and to talk to like minded people.

Pencil it in to your Calendar, and I will hope to see you there.

Price is still yet to come, but the entry is open to the public and you don't need to be a NZ MetSoc Member.

More info: http://www.metsoc.org.nz/2015-conference

I am in the organising committee so if you have any questions please feel free to post them here :)

See you there.....

Regards

Tim

Sounds good there Tim, but I gave up on Meteorological conferences years ago.
The A to the X over three theory got to me, so I gave up on that one.
Anyway, best luck with this years conference.

Thanks to all the people that came and presented at the 2015 conference, from Niwa, Metservice, MetOcean and Students from Vic, Waikato, and all the people that came from Overseas. The presentations were of a very high grade and and it was an awesome and informative multi-day session.

The conference dinner in particular went down very well, craft beer (Good George), excellent blend of wines, perched right over Ngaranui Beach watching the sunset!

Thanks to all the people that helped organise it with me!

Regards

Tim

Yes Most of them are available (slides) here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/fold ... nNkV2Q5NTA

Regarding the presentations, which ones being the best, I am not sure as I didnt see all of them unfortunately (had to conference admin things unfortunately.)

I quite liked the Climate ones from Niwa in regards to climate change forecasts and the the run down from Metservice in regards to the big floods that occurred over Wellington.
