Here is the latest 100 KM Chch Radar Image, there is a notch on one of the storms in particular, but since its composite reflectivity and crap res, you cant use it for much else from picking where the storms are and how heavy its raining.

Starting to look good here to the south as it warms up and a light NE is still in control.
I must say I was amazed at the amount of steam on the roads driving home and also in the paddocks around Templeton/Weedons. :D

Oh no. My poor Cherries/garden, I'm worried. I really feel for crop people watching their income getting destroyed.

That storm in front of the better one will eventually kill off the better one I think. The better one should soon take in the cold air left from the one in front.

Interestingly we now have the ingredients I worried we were missing this morning. Warming sun and a keen NE.

the hail added up to 15mm precipitation for us in the first wave. What a day!

Some amazing tornado shots out there. Facebook going nuts over it. I ballsed up our chase, we t to far north, and to late getting onto the tornado producing storm. It's wasnt a great stormchasers set as NZstorm said early, every cloud that went up wanted to be a storm, no cap at all

Just as well we headed down towards Rangiora as the relentless strong NW kept up all day here.Ended parking by the Cam river and waited for a developing storm to pass right over head, had one bolt of lightning hit within 100m.Back home again to clear sky and blowing its guts out

Back home after an eventful chase … first of all I caught a glimpse at a funnel on the very first cell of the day around midday, I was stationed somewhere between Dunsandel and Hororata and moved around the rain to face the tstorm's base, and while driving towards it I saw the funnel. I could not find a good spot where to stop and get a video on time, I imaged the remaining rotation in the cloud a bit later as it kept spinning while I was catching up on it.
And then gave up on that cell as Mike, Jase and Steve were further north than me on the path of the first one going for Chch, decided to go north inland for an interesting looking inflow near Ashley Gorges and possible development around Amberley, and that's where I lost control of my car and smashed the right front wheel. Chase over for me at that point, difficult to drive the car faster than 30km/h and some noises got scary enough that I decided to stop and call the tow truck. Back in town under lightning, hail and heavy rain, the ultimate humiliation from the skies …
I'll post a few photos and may be that video of the rotation, but I think there are plenty of way better stuff out there and mine can wait until I can be bothered.

5 minutes of thunder and a little hail here with that last cell but missed the one earlier driving back from coast, welcome 6mm all up today. The storms on the coast better last night, well at least compered Rangiora anyway.

Good call Mike. It just didn't feel right to me, but there you go, the numbers usually win in the long run.
Thanks Tony, was a consistent set up on the models since early in the week for me. Ended up being successful Chase day ☺ no storms looking on the horizon from my perspective this week. Anyways chased from about 12pm today, got the first cell that lashed dunsandle and went through to hit chch city. . Headed north to catch up with the kaipoi storm, before that died and decided to head back south Where we got the second belt. Missed the tornado in hinds and didn't get much photos as we just couldn't stay out of the rain/hail but all in all a great chase day and still saw lot's of big CGs

So sorry to hear about your accident, Lacertae, and a disappointing conclusion for you to an eventful day weather-wise. I hope there has not been too-severe damage to crops, fruits and gardens in Canterbury.
Looks like another belt of Weather just this side of the Rangitata, #3 for the day, I think
