A weather report from Italy

Unread post by spwill »

An amazing thunderstorm here in northern Italy  the storms arrived here around 4.30am and we have had continuous lightning/ thunder for the last 2 hours.
A big cool trough sweeps down onto northern Italy with thunderstorms next couple of days.

Northern Italy is the best place in Europe for Thunderstorms, enjoying the weather here as much as the sights.

Here is a picture of some large hail (bigger than golf ball) that fell in northern Italy just before your initial post.

Northern Italy receives some of the more powerful European thunderstorms, incl large hail + tornadoes.

I think anywhere near the central Europe Alps/ high ground is good for storms in Summer, southern Europe more stable until Autumn.
Looks like Italy will see more storms from Thursday.

There was big surf and sea swell here yesterday on the Cinque Terre. Autumn arriving early in Italy this year with the general pattern bringing cooler systems down from the NW.

More storms around last few days but unfortunately missing my location.
We had snow falling on the pass between Italy and Austria a couple of days back, certainly cool for the time of year now.
