heavy rain warning issues from 2 nite for northland/coromandel
maybe though the low might have peaked too early, and will just become a weakening cut off low...
but its those cut off lows that can be quite dangerous, especilay as the fronts can be become slow moving
rain is showing on the rain radar to the west of northland , now
the cloud sheet with that front goes all the way to Queensland, so lots of cloud to keep coming down and activate and keep the whole thing fuelled

SEVERE WEATHER WATCH FOR AUCKLAND
ISSUED BY METSERVICE AT 1058hrs 04-Jul-2005
HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE ABOUT AUCKLAND LATER TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY
MetService is keeping an eye on a frontal band in the Tasman Sea
which is expected to move onto the northern North Island on Tuesday.
A strong moist northeasterly flow precedes the front, and this should
bring bands of heavy rain onto the northern part of the North Island
on Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday.
In Auckland, rain is expected to develop today, then become more
persistent and heavier during Tuesday. Heavy rain may persist into
Wednesday. At this stage forecasters are unsure of the duration and
intensity of the heavy rain, however it is possible some parts of
Greater Auckland may recieve over 100mm of rain in a 24 to 36 hour
hour period from Tuesday afternoon through into Wednesday evening.
Some heavy rain may even continue into Thursday.
