We don't get spectacular thunderstorms in New Zealand, these days. It has something to do with global warming, apparently.

Had a few good ones on the mountain. There's nothing quite like being inside a thunderstorm.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote: ↑Sat 01/09/2018 23:46 We don't get spectacular thunderstorms in New Zealand, these days. It has something to do with global warming, apparently.

Yes impressive aright, the thunder during high country storms are amplified greatly being surrounded by mountains, been some great storms over the years of working in those areas.

Have you ever been on a mountaintop during a thunderstorm. On an exposed plateau at 2,000 m asl it can get a mite nerve-wracking at times.
Now typhoon Jebi is bearing down on us, although it's been downgraded to a cat. 1 hurricane and will likely be only a tropical storm by the time it makes landfall.

.....and now a 6.7m earthquake in Hokkaido
Japan seems to be hitted by not very good circumstances at the moment.

The system passed to the west of us, so the areas around Osaka and Kyoto got the worst of it. A few strong gusts and a bit of rain here.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote: ↑Wed 05/09/2018 17:31
