Here's the report from my weather diary of the day.

Cloudy overnight and this morning but becoming fine. Not much wind, if so from the south or SE direction, although the sky/cloud movement was from the SW. Some CB forms to the north from the west this afternoon. Later in the day, a CB form developed to the south of TC (Thunderstorm Corner) This moving out and developing as it moved north to combat the moister air to the north. This developed into a mesacycle thunderstorm over Christchurch, delivering large hail around 6:30pm. There was some lightning following in behind. Nothing here. No precipitation whatsoever.
