Yes, Looks like its popping over Waiheke. Sparking on blitz.
That developing cell dropped another 7mm here, no thunder here.

Wowsers... looks like a strong storm on Waiheke Island... couple of PWS showing around 50mm in half an hour

One of the PWS's on Waiheke recorded a rainfall rate of near 100mm/hr over a 25 minute period. A casual 70mm for the storm

That storm is moving onto the Coromandel, the intense rain might cause a few problems there.
We had a decent shower here mid morning, first really heavy shower since December

Re: Front and upper low 7 - 9 March
That earlier cell looks to have developed rapidly more over the eastern end of the Waiheke. I'm in the middle of the western third of the island and didn't really notice anything here - just 16mm of light to medium rain between about 11am and 3pm. But an Omiha PWS less than 3 km SE of here recorded 52mm today, and this Te Matuku Bay PWS right at the SE end of the island (10 km ESE of here) recorded 83mm. I see Blitzortung also picked up 1 CG a little SE of Waiheke around 2:30pm.

Lousy timing for Wellington's rain (cricket). But had the match been scheduled for Nelson (eg) the result wouldn't be much better, judging by the forecasts.

25mm since yesterday which I'll take for sure, YTD 61mm now. The thunder drought for here continues though.
