Rain areas and intensities are changing every model run, any part of Canterbury/Otago could get a pasting or end up with nothing by the end of the weekend! I'll be in Geraldine, expecting wetness
Bring your Ukulele, as well as gumboots etc.
Haha, will do! I’m there to attend the festival.
Moderate chance rain warning out from MetService for much of Canterbury on Sunday, looks more likely inland.
Confirmed, gumboots not needed at the festival... yesterday anyway! Last night and today is much wetter, but I'm now in Methven where it's just heavy drizzle. Warmer today as well, yesterday maxed at around 7C according to the car.
Time-lapse of the southerly front that stalled near wellington and generated a few thunderstorms to the east, 18th July. Can see a few small funnel clouds trying to form
This system certainly teased skiers. Delivered reasonable snow to start with, then waterlogged it with rain and a much higher than expected freezing level. The worry now is clearing weather will turn that to icy slopes and load up a nasty avalanche risk down the line
151 mm all up for us at the bach in north Taranaki over the week. Everything saturated with a few small slips around the place. Must have been school holidays, huh. Cards and board games got a good workout.
