Re: General August Weather
I heard that thunder too but cell is moving away to SE.
Looks like warm frontal rain spreading across Northland/Auckland tonight with severe gale force winds probable in exposed parts of Northland. Squally thunder potential in the far north also.

Re: General August Weather
I was driving at Albany Heights / Lonely Track road at about 11:40 hours this morning and the wind was unbelievable, tree branches being ripped of trees, at one stage it almost looked like a inflow wind for a severe gale or possible tornado. the skies were dark grey and heavy rain.

Re: General August Weather
We were hit by a massive squall in Corinthian Drive Albany just after midday, a PWS around 1km away recorded a 104 km/h gust at that time, it was phenomenal!RODALCO wrote: ↑Thu 22/08/2019 14:20 I was driving at Albany Heights / Lonely Track road at about 11:40 hours this morning and the wind was unbelievable, tree branches being ripped of trees, at one stage it almost looked like a inflow wind for a severe gale or possible tornado. the skies were dark grey and heavy rain.

Recorded a gust of 64 km/h here just after midday, fairly strong for here. Apart from that heavy band nothing much else eventuated, yet...

Re: General August Weather
Not much happened at our worksite, drizzle, hardly any wind. Just arrived back in Titirangi, bit of drizzle, no wind.
In Albany, the same one or two showers , no wind. At this stage a bit of a non-event.
