Another little downpour convergence coming into Auckland, showing nicely on the new public facing beta 120km radar Also high frequency lightning strikes around 300 km NW of Auckland at the on a frontal boundary. MS heavy rain watch now in place until 11pm for parts of the upper NI including Auckland. https://beta.metservice.com/warnings/home#upper-north

Lots of interesting aircraft manoeuvring going on, both avoiding the cb over the Manukau, and the front further out

Flights from Queenstown and Napier have been delayed coming in. Increasingly dark skies around here as the cell passes. Might be an interesting flight back to Chch in half an hour.

Re: Possible north & central NZ T-storms & heavy rain - Nov 10-11
From takeoff just now, this is the line approaching the Waikato - I'm on in-flight wifi but can't get the radar to load.
Few minor bumps heading towards Taranaki now.
-51C temp at 9800m
Edit, radar loaded and we seem to have some cb activity chasing us. Over Cook Strait now.

Hitting the mountains now, a couple of bumps just there and into high cloud at 8700m with -40C outside. Convection was building up towards Nelson but nothing too major yet.
