Yes, the problem with monthly rainfall data is you can get the equivalent of a month rain fall in a day and rainfall can be very localised.

I see Auckland is well ahead of its annual average sunshine hrs by the end of November

I am thinking that a warming climate will mean less cloud cover in some latitudes/places...
Auckland's sunshine hours have been trending up as the climate has warmed up
which is contributing to warming of the tasman sea , which then warms up NZ..so then you have a feed back loop
Niwa talk about this in a recent video they posted (the feed back loop and the marine heat waves we are getting every year now)

It should be noted that the sunshine averages are from the manual measurement era. Given that the KZ equipment shows a substantial increase after conversion at nearly all sites, the improvement is exaggerated.

Here's NIWA's preliminary, 'November 2019 National Climate Summary'.

Hottest November on record for New Zealand

The national average temp of 15.3C was 1.6C above normal.

The month's highest temp of 34.6C was recorded at Kawerau on the 3rd.
And the lowest temp of -1.6C was recorded at Hanmer Forest on the 21st.

Numerous temp records broken, including Tauranga's warmest ever Nov mean-temp and, along with Hamilton and Dunedin, its warmest Nov mean max-temp on record. Wairoa also recorded NZ's highest ever Nov mean max-temp of 26.2C (beating its own Nov national record of 25.6C set in 1953).
