Using the GFS the shower chance tomorrow comes across here in the morning, the shower chance for Sunday looks small.
Monday looking good for precipitation

yes monday does look intresting, lets see if the risk holds. metservice has reduced tommorows risk to low. I dont see any risk for thunder in auckland tomorrow anyways.

good thing the front was weak (wind change to SW here)
it should clear this afternoon by the looks of the sat image
as its the local Waiuku Xmas parade this afternoon (and a wedding we are going to , and the bride wanted a forecast like 4 weeks ago...the models back then actually have worked out OK for today!)

In Kurow of all places, been watching that shower you can see on radar bear Oamaru developing while driving down the Waitaki Valley. Tomorrow of interest to coastal Otago and South Canterbury by the looks.

A front hanging around Auckland overnight, it may trigger an isolated thunderstorm or two. But more probable tomorrow afternoon if we get the heating.

Port Hills are draining fast now, a good barometer of how dry it's getting in Chch. I heard there was a fire at West Melton in the past couple of days or so?

Yet, no watches or warnings for Waikato or King Country, suspect that line is going to hit somewhere even if the models get its position wrong by a few 10s of km.

Model fail, 2mm or so from a shower and that was it. Maybe MS knew not to take that model output seriously.

I like the way it is in the 40's over there in Australia, whereas here in Geraldine, we have the fire going because it is cold outside
10c at the moment.
No more rain but it is rather overcast with grey skies.
Hardly any wind.

Be great if what GFS is showing a week out holds up, slow moving spit high pressure each side of NZ, this would help develop surface troughs over inland areas. The prefect set up for my area if it happens.

Cropp MTD total as at 07.12 today is 2149mm (not double-checked). Record monthly of 2927 probably safe.
