Unread post by Michael »

Why is wellington 41 s getting the same daylight hrs as auckland wheres whangarei 35 s only slighty more than a degree north of here is still 2 mins extra daylight with the sun still north by about 4 degrees of the equator..we are 3 degrees north of wellington and its with sunrise and sunset times taken as a whole so longitude wont be a factor :?: :?:

Mountain ranges are a big factor.

For information consult this link (eg) for astronomical - ie HORIZON - times. No contradictions here. If actual "visual" times were used then most Wellington locations would lose a lot more than most Auckland ones, because the hills are higher.
