Metservice did mention tornadoes for auckland in the thunderstorm outlook for that day
yeah for coastal parts. though. east tamaki is more inland auckland. but none the less it was a intresting day. even tho the showers kept weakening as they got here in takanini
ps, Auckland must be heading for one of its warmest Junes on record
I am running 1.1c above normal here for june
(no sign of the cooling from last springs SSW?)
My Silverdale Spy* reports hearing a bang around 11pm, then another much louder, and power went off. Stormy, but black-dark of course so could see nothing til daylight.
*Location about 1km from the damage to roofs, cars, trees etc.

For me this month is 1.4C above my 10 year mean for June, certainly a mild one, though 2014 was the same here
Incredible few days of tornados there, thanks to more people with decent cameras on thier phones.
Some places starting to forecast near sea level snow mid week, not seeing this 850mb temp still too warm although certainly cold enough for snow to 200-300m.
Sleety showers and hail for the east coast a possibility.
There could be a tornado report tomorrow as the low pressure system will veer the low level flow as it approaches. But dp's 11C are at the bottom end of the range I like to see for a tornado. Will be interesting to see what can eventuate tomorrow.
yes hoping for some thunder and hail. yes might be a another tornado tonmmorow. theres been like 4 tornadoes this weekend. some action weather at last tho. I am thinking taranaki might join in on the tornado action.
i see this weekends outbreak is on the Wikipedia tornadoes of 2020 page.
A little bit of lightning flashing out west as I was driving into Raglan this morning with crop of CB's. Looking at the Himawari loop the 2nd wave in the trough line have bit more vigor to them.

had some hail but no thunder sadly. i did get thunder last thursday tho. might be another thunder chance next week? could change. has been a intresting few days with good footage of the twisters. there is nothing mini about them for sure. i was expecting at least one touch down. not 4 or 5 as occurred. but nature does its thing.

That was a small tornado outbreak. I think some reached EF2. Based on some reports and pics I seen. Glad no injuries or deaths occurred.
I think the tornadoes were EF1 which accounts for wind speed up to 180km/h.
As for thunder risk today, I think a low risk continues overnight.

theres another heavy shower bands with patches of red in it. on wikipedias tornado of 2020 they plot 3 of them as EFU and the south tamaki twister as ef2. i know wikipedia is unaccurate but still. yes quieter but cold weather as we do get a bit of high pressure coming.
