Funnel cloud this morning, went right over our house

thought i would create a new thread
fizzled just before it got to us
I was down the road, at BigBay, but photographed it from there
Pictures from the webcam on the roof of the house, 1 minute apart

Vaguely looks like a funnel in the photos but I guess you had a much better view of it from where you were. Any signs of rotation?

yes there was a bit
the key is, there is no rain where it is, i.e its a updraft area (Bob McDavitt gives it a thumbs up) :)

That was the same cloud that brought a brief thunderstorm to Auckland about 11.30am. Looked very dark and active as it approached and gave heavy hail for a few minutes.

yes, although this particular one was the first in the series of squall lines, and was accompanied by a temperature drop from 12.5 to 8.5oC :)
I could see lightning streaking across the sky over auckland way in the next big CB, which gave us hail enough to pile up against things :)
