Interesting that Kaikoura is forecast to reach 32C today but we seem to have already passed a peak at 28.4C. Guess it depends if the NW takes over again.

Would like it to be a bit cooler for a run this evening, good job it's around the peninsula :D

Edit - don't listen to me, back to 28.5C now...

37 now, actually hotter in this area (Halswell) than it got to yesterday by a couple of degrees. Little sign of relief as we head into what you'd expect to be the hottest past of the day

I can't see how it won't get hotter than 37c, there is no clouds to shield the sun and the hottest part of the day is within the next 4-5 hours. Its definitely hotter than yesterday where I am in Southern Chch city.

High cloud moving across now in Christchurch which will cap the temps but still, two 35C+ in a row for the Airport would almost certainly be a record...

Yesterday was worse, without a doubt. Just got home. Suspect today was lower temp with higher dew point. lets just say I'm sure enjoying the cooler air from the heat-pump & will soon hit the shower.
