Cold blob in north Tasman,

Unread post by Awhituobs »

there is a big swirl of much colder than normal sea surface temperatures
there is normally a big gyre/eddie ocean current in the tasman, where the warm water that moves down the east coat of the australia
then moves out into the tasman but then rotates back on itself in big ocean swirl
so it seems that has weakened ...and so has not transported warm water into the north central tasman like what usually happens

probably a result of not normal wind directions across the north tasman over the summer?

edit:
the normal warm water eddy brings warm water to Lord Howe Island..which has a bit or coral even...so that is what normally happens...but it looks to have shut down a bit this year?
