77mm recorded in 24 hours at Chch Airport on 3rd July 1977.

If I get some spare time, I will pull out my weather diaries to see and find of significant weather events for ChCh/Canterbury'
I can remember events where the Heathcote River flooded in to the Clarendon/Richardson Terrace areas around the Opawa railway bridge from the tides that backed into the Heathcote River from the estuary in heavy rain events mostly from the east.

Mt Hutt reports 40cm rain affected snow at the lower field level, but up to 4 metres in drifts further up the mountain wow

One bright side of this phenomenal event is that finally there is a beautiful cap of snow on the Seaward Kaikouras. Hopefully it's pretty thick as well, so possibly might last through winter.
