Looking possible I’ll get my driest June on record (or very close) with this latest system not really delivering, 1mm so far.

Re: General June Weather
yeah, we were in the South Auckland area this afternoon and could'nt believe how little wind there was
as soon as we got back to Waiuku it was windy (reports of Trees down in the Waiuku area)
it would be an interesting mesoscale analysis the NW pressure river of wind we get here often

Re: General June Weather
that day of mild NW winds and a warm night has meant it was over 4c warmer than normal for the time of year for here
bolstering Junes chances of ending up being the warmest on record for NZ
but then now we have a cold snap..although for the north island, its not cold yet (14c here currently)

Re: General June Weather
^ Still looking like this will end up being NZ's warmest June on record, or at least close to it.
Same goes for 5 of the 6 the main centres (Hamilton being the exception).

Re: General June Weather
And yet everyone I meet in Christchurch and surrounds is commenting on how cold its been lately. No sun makes people feel cold, but the cloud layers make the thermometer read higher!

Re: General June Weather
I agree with that.
Also you wouldn't think it was all that warm judging by the amount of wood I have left in my wood shed.

Re: General June Weather
A bit of an uneventful day here in Geraldine to what I was expecting. Looked very thunderous to the south/SE of here over the Timaru area late morning but nothing much eventuated with the CB feature moving away to the NE with it clearing up to become a fine sunny afternoon, but the wind was bitter. Nice inside in the conservatory
Today's maximum was 8.5C and the rainfall total from today's storm was 0.3mm.
Clouded over again this evening but quite cold with SW freshening again.
Might be a sprinkling of snow on the lawn in the morning if the flow tips more southerly
