Not surprised - 94 km/h gusts at Whangaparaoa late yesterday morning and 85 km/h the day before. 8-o

it looks like it has caught a bit of energy boost (divergence) from the sub tropical jet passing by to the north
but as that moves out to the east it should weaken again

Whangarei recorded 43.8mm in 2 hours yesterday evening, Whangaparaoa 42.6mm within 2hrs yesterday morning, MS.

I got plenty plenty of lightning photos Sunday night but only flashes in the clouds, I have a quite limited view of the sky from my carport.

I see it seems someone was killed in the flood waters in Henderson.

According to NIWA's August Summary, Kumeu's daily total of 208 mm was the 'highest daily rainfall total recorded in the Auckland region since 7 March 2017, when 210 mm was recorded at Waiheke Island'.
