Weather rapidly changing to the south of Ashburton right now. There were no clouds at all 10 minutes ago. Currently 24 degrees with a light NE wind.

Yeah. Southerly through here at 1:40pm. Nothing much behind it, just clagg moving over spoiling what was a lovely fine day.

Yes the wind has hit now and the conditions have changed greatly. Looks to be a mostly dry change, maybe some showers later. Certainly one of the warmer days we’ve had recently.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote: ↑Thu 24/03/2022 14:24othing much just clagg rolling in from what was a lovely day.darcyplumb wrote: ↑Thu 24/03/2022 14:12 Weather rapidly changing to the south of Ashburton right now. Haven't been on as late due to dull boring weather. Shocking season down here this year, worst we have had since I can remember. Nice to see some TCU inland right now though. Iv forgotten what that looked like.

Re: General March Weather
The southerly has been building strength during this afternoon as its more north. Some beefy clouds currently to the NW with more to the SW where showers are developing

Dry southerly in Chch - radar showed most precipitation inland, and even that seems to have gone now.
Went down to New Brighton this evening, massive swells were breaking beyond the end of the pier.

Re: General March Weather
A nice fine day prior to the southerly surge coming through here at 1:40pm.
Skies gradually clouded over from then to become grey stratus for the rest of the day and into the evening. Drizzle from evening with 1.7mm for today.
21.6C prior to the change but dropping away when the freshening southerly took hold.

Prolonged Indian summer for Southland. 16mm month to date. Sunshine well above average. Wondering if the 1947's record of 207 (sic) hours will be broken?Chris Raine wrote: ↑Fri 25/03/2022 07:18 Front went through at 0600 hrs.Gave 1.1mm and a strong westerly change gusting to 25 knots.Another airmass trough at 1230 gave another 1.8mm and thats it.Dying SW by dusk

Re: General March Weather
The dew point temperature is on increase so warmer nights return in a day or two.
Another Tasman low later in the week, see how this looks in the modelling over coming days.
