Tasman Sea fronts are disintegrating as they track across the South Island .Yesterday's front fell apart over Dunedin. Last night's front fell apart approaching Southland. Today's front approaching falling apart as I write this. I never expected any front to survive coming up against the tropical low

According to NIWA 123.2mm of rain fell in the hour between 3.30am -4.30am at Maungatapere near Whangarei on Monday morning.
The 103mm that fell between 4am and 5am at Maungatapere is a NZ record for a low level location, hourly records only taken on the hr.
