High Country Snow 9-10th May 2022

Unread post by talbotmj15 »

Both EC and GFS are showing up a very cold period for around 9 days. May not happen but given both EC and GFS are showing it theres a good chance.
I note on latest runs EC has Strong Advection event over Canterbury and GFS wants to just put a very cold traditional southerly run over NZ.
Will watch the models with Interest! :-k

Models still showing a very cold shot. latest GFS has heavy moisture now right over North Canterbury. Will see if it continues with the next model runs. The low and orgins to this cold shot are from off the shelf directly.

Well this turned out to be a non even apart from some decent rain, looking at ski field webcams the snow level seems to be above 1600-1700m. Snow level was lower after the heavy rain event on 13th February.
