Invercargill recently was in the grip of a wet SW/W flow with a maximum gust of 111km/hr on the 14th and 15th 102km/hr. Looks like a period of fine and calm weather coming up.

Same from Tongaporutu last night with crepuscular rays lighting up the high altitude aerosols. Just beautiful.

No.
Maybe it's prelude to the rising of the coming Matariki star cluster this week. :D

Lovely day back in the Hutt valley region with low cloud with drizzle and a cold wind.
Would of been frosty down home. 8)
Looks like it's going to be a rather long night tonight, possibly the longest night so far this year ?

Interesting that Metservice is mentioning snow in their forecast for Christchurch for Friday night - GFS is also backing this up

Isn’t that completely computer generated that far out though? Ie no actual forecaster has had any i out into that forecast so as to be taken with a grain of two of salt

Regarding the sun set and Tonga volcano. I hadn’t noticed the purple sky for a about a week and then last night it was back in full force.

Great photos Dean. Is Lake Emily easy to get to?

Are we on track for a record warm June? will be close.

Ashburton Lakes is one of my favourite places to visit. So close to Ashburton but you feel like it’s a totally different world. Stunning all year round.
