17mm in the manual gauge this morning, since midday yesterday, which would make 144 month to date. So far I’m looking at a 1.28 multiplier for my vp2

Most likely you are looking at wind effects, in which case you might get a better idea by separating out rain events based on wind direction rather than treating them as one. You might find that one particular wind direction has more of an impact than others.
