Photo of the late day convergence yesterday afternoon to the SE seen from the airport. Some distant lightning seen in the evening.
Looks like isolated afternoon heat showers for parts of NZ this weekend.

Hydrometeors, new one to me, but I kinda like... But shouldn't they be: "Hydrometeorites"?

A few towers going up to the west at the moment.
Looks like it's quite active in the lightning department in the South Tasman Sea at the moment.

Re: General February Weather
Temperature up to 28C now with a light Northerly just kicking in, it's nice to see the warm temperatures back again and should be around 30C Tuesday.
Looks like quite the front on Wednesday set to bring about 25-30mm, further showers into Thursday could be heavy in the afternoon with a slight thunder risk.

Yes you are right, Looking from here its normal to see a dusting on the very tallest of the mountains tops year round, but there has been none so far this year, most unusual.
