I felt it was a pretty standard August for Christchurch. Seemed like more frosts and colder mornings, but Tmax probably running around average. Tmin slightly lower? Rainfall should have been under average from my feelings.
Pretty standard end of winter, looking forward to September and some spring conditions

Re: General August Weather
After 2 exceptionally warm winter months, August 2023 looks to be NZ's coldest winter month since 2017 and coldest August since 2016. It was, however, also a generally relatively dry and sunny month for most parts.
Preliminary stats for the main centres:
Hamilton Aero recorded its 2nd coldest August and 2nd coldest average overnight temp from records since 1971 (only 1972 was colder).
Christchurch Aero also recorded its 3rd coldest average overnight August temp from records since 1954 (only 2011 and 1993 were colder).
Auckland (Mangere) recorded its coldest August since 1985, while Tauranga Aero and Wellington recorded their coldest since 2004.
