Some rain his morning, Didn't notice any sleet in it but when we went to Timru around noon, we into a graupel/hail shower around Orari, just after noon today driving to Timaru for an appointment.
Not all that windy in Geraldine but it was quite windy driving from Temuka to Timaru.Snow along the Alps and lower foothills.
Fine this evening. Today's maximum was 14.1C.

Walked up Mt Herbert - still quite a lot of snow at the summit (about 15-20cm), with patches as low as about 650-700m.

Thought there may of been more snow on the foothills, but more inland.
...anyway, after frost this morning, it became a warm sunny day here.
20c I recorded with light southerly turning NE this afternoon.
Fine and calm evening.

Thunder chances this week inland central otago and inland south and mid Canterbury on Thursday.

North island looks like instability with the left over moisture totals from the EX T. Tomorrow (Tuesday) heavy showers for much of the northern half and eastern North island on wensday thunder/ hail risk their

Looks like the South Island has missed any storm development today unlike the central areas of the NI.

Most of the action seems to be out in the Tasman Sea. Humid here today with not much wind.

A topsy-turvy month in terms of temps, but generally a little warmer than normal for most places. October also saw frequent strong wind events and a few mid-spring snow events. During the last few days Ex-TC Lola delivered an extra 1-2 months of rainfall to parts of Northland and the Coromandel Peninsula, accompanied by severe easterly gales for the upper north.
