Looked like that from Geraldine, prior to the thunder coming across.. Keep your fingers and whatever else, crossed.

Re: Thunderstorm risk 1-3 Feb
Heard a few more rumbles of thunder from the cells to the NE, but the strong SW certainly is keeping most of the activity further west.
I noticed when near Ruapuna earlier there was no wind at all compared to the city.
Hopefully we will catch a few decent showers tonight, at least some of the rain has been falling on the plains where it is needed.

All the action seems to happen in the South Island. The winds in Auckland are pretty strong too. Sun is out at the moment, West Auckland.
Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?

As I said earlier some areas have received a good amount of rain today while others not so, only 2mm over Southern Christchurch from this morning.
Which brings the total to 5mm including yesterday's rain.
Some snowfall on the likes of Mt Hutt today, crazy to think with an overnight low of 7C we will be into the late 20,s tomorrow and potentially mid 30,s by Monday.
It's like someone just opened the fridge door over the South Island for a day .
Looks like Wellington got a decent storm on front arrival.

Very spring like weather this weekend. Thunderstorms and SW flow today and back to warm tomorrow and hot Monday. Can't get much springy than that

Yes, Jason, back to normal for summer tomorrow with very warm temperatures possibly in the low to mid thirties for next week after today's "Freezing" cold winter like outbreak. I noticed a smattering of snow on top of Mt. Peel this evening once the cloud cleared also on one of the 4 Peaks.Storm Struck wrote: ↑Sat 03/02/2024 19:07 Some snowfall on the likes of Mt Hutt today, crazy to think with an overnight low of 7C we will be into the late 20,s tomorrow and potentially mid 30,s by Monday.

Complete flop of an event here today. Non event actually. Had a lovely walk round Godley Head though with Scottish Rellies. Winning.
